Mooroolbark Street Art Project

Welcome to the Mooroolbark Street Art (MSA) project, an ongoing initiative of the Mooroolbark Traders & Community Group (MTCG), transforming our township into a vibrant canvas that reflects its diverse culture and rich history. On this page you will find a catalogue of the artworks commissioned by MTCG since 2019.

The MSA project was initiated in 2019 in partnership with the Yarra Art Rangers Network with the backing of our local community who provided the votes that secured our initial funding. This was awarded by a Victorian State Government ‘Pick My Project’ grant and enabled the first works in our street art collection to be produced on walls, pavement, seats, power boxes, playground equipment and more.

This collection is unique in that all works are relevant to Mooroolbark. We’ve talked with community extensively and continue to do so, with similar themes emerging every time. As you will see, local flora and fauna has been a big one! Click on the images in the gallery to see them full size, and see more information.

We hope you enjoy discovering them as you go about your daily lives, or take the time to explore them all with our self-guided walking (or cycling) tour using this online map

Artists have created these magnificent public artworks to reflect our shared history, stories, ideas and aspirations. We’d love to hear how the works have inspired you or made a difference to your day. You can tag us in your social media posts with #mooroolbarkstreetart @mooroolbark_hub or post into the Mooroolbark Street Art project Facebook Group.

If you’d like to stay up to date on future projects, ask to be subscribed to the MSA mailing list in an email to info@mooroolbark.vic.au

The Mooroolbark Street Art project acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri people, including their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Mooroolbark also has a collection of privately commissioned, or commissioned outside of the Mooroolbark Traders Community Group. You can find a map of those here. We’ll be adding information about these pieces as we receive it.
